And above all, let’s BE KIND!
A bit of a different layout today, so I’ll keep this brief. I’ve been feeling like it’s time for a personal revolution -and I’m hoping that you might be inspired to begin one of your own, too!
I’ve found myself reaching for uplifting entertainment of late. I still love a gritty mystery -of course I do!- but I’m also making the decision to take charge of what I’m feeling at any given point in the day. Because I desire to feel really good, as often as possible. And guess what: I get to make that decision for myself. Every. Single. Time.
So here’s my revolution:
I propose to turn my attention inwards and make the choice to frame my life as positively as possible.
I propose to acknowledge whatever I’m feeling, and to let it be what it needs to be, but then release it.
I propose to go forward in my life with as bright an outlook as I can muster, no matter what is happening in the world around me. If nothing else, more people making the choice to care about themselves AND each other, will move this world in the right direction.
I say, let’s embrace our uniqueness.
Let’s dress our bodies beautifully, no matter what size we may be right now.
Let’s make meal times an important occasion throughout our days, set that table, light those candles, and turn off the TV more often. And for goodness sake, leave your cell phone in a different room while you eat! (Bonus points if you set -and stick to- a time of day at which point you turn off your cell phone entirely for the night.)
Let’s find our signature style and let our radiance light up the world, even if the only part of the world that sees us is our own little pied-à-terre. Wear the lipstick, the perfume, that dress that makes you feel like a Grecian goddess. Learn how to tie scarves like the most stylish French lady. Pick a colour you love, and then make it a signature colour. Accessorize with it.
You know what? No one has the right to shutter your light. No one has the right to tell you how to think or feel. Make up your own mind and create a life that you feel blessed to be living. Remember, your perspective is all up to you.
I’m going to close with a poem by Christian D. Larson which has become a favourite of mine:
To be so strong that nothing can disturb my peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person I meet.
To make all my friends feel that there is something worthwhile in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything and make my optimism come true.
To think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as I am about my own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful expression at all times and give a smile to every living creature I meet.
To give so much time to improving myself that I have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
To think well of myself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud words, but in great deeds.
To live in the faith that the whole world is on my side, so long as I am true to the best that is in me.
