Paris Pink Lips

I’m mourning the end of a tube of lipstick.  Well… okay… maybe mourning is too strong, but this is the one tube of lippy I took with me when I traveled to Paris for the first time.  So there are memories attached.  No shortage of smiles, too, which apparently eluded every camera I’ve ever been around!  Funny how that works.

It’s called Primrose, and it’s from 100% Pure

I love a good lippy, and I have several shades I like to choose between, but this pink always makes me think of that trip to Paris.  It’s funny how something so simple can end up connected to so many good memories.  That trip was a writer’s retreat hosted by Kimberly Wilson of KimberlyWilson.com and the retreat was Penning in Paris.  If you have an interest in writing, retreats like this are a great way to connect with likeminded creatives, and to visit amazing places, too!

I digress.

Happy memories aren’t necessarily tied to big events or important days.  Some of the best things I’ve ever done aren’t even captured on camera (as evidenced by my complete lack of photographic evidence of my lipstick!)  You see, when I put on my ‘Paris Pink’ lipstick, immediately I remember things like the murals they used to temporarily fill in the bridge when they removed the panels with all the locks.

Spending time in the cool hush of the oldest church in Paris, Saint Germain des pres.  Seriously, if you get the chance, go see this place because my photos can’t do it justice!

Strolling through Luxembourg Gardens.

Hot chocolate at Angelina’s, tea at Laduree (where my dessert even matched my lipstick!)  One of my greatest regrets is that I didn’t grab a tin of Laduree’s Violette Oolong, next time I’m back that’ll be my first stop.

Picnicking by the Eiffel Tower.  Then later in the week a group of us went to see the tower lit up at night.  On the way we dined in the cutest restaurant in the Latin Quarter.  There’s a funny story about a rather handsome French man, one of our ladies, and a hole in the floor… but I’ll save that for another day.

Each memory conjures up another, it’s a chain reaction!  All because of a tube of lipstick.  Life is full of magical connections if you look for them.  The next time you reach for your favourite lipstick, or piece of jewelry, or outfit, or even coffee mug, take a moment and bask in the goodness of having made those memories.

In the meantime, here are a few more piccies from Paris:
